FKU (Parental Competence Assessment), is a psychological assessment used in Denmark to determine if a parent can adequately care for their child. The test involves interviews, observations, and psychometric evaluations, all designed within a Danish cultural framework. This test has been highly criticized for its failure to account for the cultural, linguistic, and social contexts of Greenlandic Inuit families, who are significantly "failing" these evaluations. Keira's case is not unique. It's part of a long history of the Danish system tearing apart Greenlandic families, denying us the right to raise our children within our culture, and perpetuating harmful stereotypes about us as unfit parents. This is cultural genocide. It's the erasure of our language, traditions, and connection to our children, all under the pretense of "help."
