On July 10th 2016 Eder shocked the world by scoring the winner in the final of Euro 2016. Despite writing himself in football history with this goal it was detrimental to his club career playing in France at the time as Eder was boo'd by fans the following season. 'A lot of people weren't happy with me for scoring that goal and emotionally bruised from it. Any friendliness towards me was gone. The supporters didn't like me any more. It was hard for fans to understand that I was playing for my country and that with my country I want to win!' He left Lille the following summer and played out the rest of his career in Russia and Saudi Arabia, largely out of the spotlight. #football #Soccer #eder #euro2016 #cr7

Diego Maradona’s picture from the 1982 World Cup is one of the most shared football images of all time but not for the correct reasons. Though many believe Maradona is squaring up to take on 5 Belgian defenders in the midst of an attack the picture was actually captured after a short free-kick. Rather than dribbling past the defenders as is often imagined, Maradona tried to chip the ball into the box but saw his attempt swiftly cleared away by Luc Millecamps. Belgium went on to win the match 1-0. #footballtiktok #footballstories #worldcup #footballedits
On the 14th July 2006 it was announced that Juventus would be relegated to Serie B for the first time in their club’s history. This decision came as a result of the Calciopoli scandal, which exposed a group of italian clubs for influencing referee assignments in Serie A. Juventus were found to be heavily involved in the scandal and as a result, were stripped of their back to back 2004–05 and 2005–06 Serie A titles and relegated to Serie B, as well as being handed a 9-point deduction. The scandal shocked Italian football and led to point deductions for several other clubs too, but Juventus were hit the hardest being the only club relegated. Following relegation, the likes of Ibrahimović, Thuram and soon to be Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro decided to leave the club. But Del Piero, Buffon, Nedvěd, and Trezeguet all decided to stay loyal and help the club return to the top division. Juventus overcame the 9 point deduction and dominated the 2006–07 Serie B season, finishing first and earning immediate promotion back to Serie A. Though their reputation and fans suffered, the club rebuilt over the following years and eventually returned to the top of Italian football, winning nine consecutive league titles from 2012 to 2020. #Soccer #football #juventus #serieatim
