I went to SLC in APR of 23. But, just now sharing this accomplishment because .... I still did great things and accomplished many objectives that no rank could ever define despite the dark battles I was fighting. I want MY SOLDIERS to know, NOTHING can ever defeat you if you don't let it. Be humble in your winnings and be willing to share knowledge and wisdom with the people to your left and right in your company formations. You don't need nobody to stand in your corner to accomplish your goals, you only need to believe in yourself. The opinion of those above you does not define who you are. Even though we may never get into ABA therapy after waiting so long, we will be alright. The Army has taught the both of us about resiliency and overcoming defeat. I am hoping changes be made to improve the quality of life for Special Needs Dependents of Military Members when considering them for transition. I believe Servicemembers can fulfill the needs of the Army (whichever Branch) no matter where they are located. I've never missed a deployment. I've never missed an NTC rotation. I can go on, but the point is I've been as dedicated as can be to the needs of the Army so much so that I can probably find a Babysitter quicker than a Commander approving a Soldier's Leave when it comes to training, duty, and missions. Soldiers with Special Needs Dependents are capable of performing their duties just like anyone else. All I ask, is that the Army does a better job at assisting such Soldiers with securing solid "Family Care Plans" versus mandating them to just put a paper packet together only to later use it against them when needed for training, duties, & missions. My Son was diagnosed at age 2 with ASD. Since then, I have moved a total of 8 times. 8. - SSG Xiong (almost out)
