This is our fave place for chicken rice in Sydney. My mum told she’s been coming here for laksa & har me (prawn noodles - sadly they don’t do them currently 🥲) since 2006… which is… 19 years ago. Like what?! How is 2006 almost 20 years ago?!?! Anyway, back to the food. The chicken rice and laksa here are our go-to’s. We also got the fried salmon head with noodle soup - I personally am not the biggest fan, I just find there are too many bones to manoeuvre around to get to the meat and I prefer low effort eats haha. Finally tried this hidden gem in Guildford – @Lanzhou Noodle House Guildford is a halal spot you need to try! Run by Chef Norman, a Chinese Muslim chef with years of experience, this newly opened place is serving up hand-pulled noodle soups from just $16 – and the flavour is unreal. We tried the braised beef noodle soup (so tender!) crispy beef dumplings, juicy lamb skewers, and a range of their stir-fries – the lamb and cumin one was my favourite! They even do dessert crepes filled with chocolate Biscoff or fruit, and they’ve got a prayer room upstairs. Plenty of parking across the road (behind Abu Salim), and they don’t stock any boycott brands – we love to see it. Date night food adventure at Sydney’s hottest foodie market right now – Hay St Market at Paddy’s Started the night with a refreshment – the new @Schweppes Ginger Beer. Heard it pairs well with Asian flavours and spicy food🌶️ so we had to test it out ourselves. Here’s what we picked up from the market: • Singapore Chilli Prawn Dumplings (they were out of crab) • Laksa Dumplings – Helmi’s favourite • Smash Burger🍔 • Korean Sweet & Spicy Crispy Chicken + Tteokbokki from a Korean Pocha-style stall • Chicken Souvlaki with spiced yoghurt Tasted it all, and here’s the verdict: • The Laksa dumplings had a creamy broth with just the right spicy kick🌶️ • The Singapore Chilli Prawn dumpling was juicy and full of flavour😋 • Schweppes Ginger Beer paired surprisingly well with the lingering spice – subtle ginger flavour, not overpowering, super refreshing🥰 • Smash Burger was soft and packed with flavour thanks to the sauce • Korean chicken and tteokbokki weren’t too spicy, but still flavourful and paired nicely with the ginger beer • The Chicken Souvlaki had a nice smoky char, and the yoghurt brought it all together That wrapped up our night but ig you haven’t tried Schweppes Ginger Beer, definitely give it a go – perfect for spicy and street food lovers😉 [A D] #schweppes #gingerbeer #sydneyfoodie #foodmarket #chinatownsydney #sydneyeats #sydneyfood #datenights #sydneyguide #refreshingdrink hay st paddys market sydney

#ad Family is everything to me, and some of my most memorable moments were growing up watching my mum carry on our family traditions. Just like the dyeing of the eggs, we would have a challenge of cracking them against one another, and those whose egg didn’t crack won. On the upside, whether you crack it or not, you still get to eat it 😂 This recipe is special to me, and I loved every minute of making it. It’s my mum’s Easter Bread recipe, I hope you enjoy it too! Ingredients: 1kg plain flour 2 eggs 1 egg yolk 125g melted butter 150g sugar 1tsp vanilla extract 500ml warm milk 7g of instant dried yeast 1tbsp sugar (for mixture) Zest of one orange Method: 1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1tbsp of sugar. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes until it becomes foamy. 2. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, vanilla, lemon/orange zest, salt, and the remaining sugar. Add the activated yeast mixture. 3. Knead: Gradually add flour and knead for about 10-15 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic. You may need slightly more or less flour. 4. Let it rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5-2 hours, or until doubled in size. 5. Shape the bread: Divide the dough into three equal parts and braid them. Place the braided loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 6. Second rise: Cover and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes. 7. Brush and bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the bread with a beaten egg yolk and sprinkle sesame seeds or sugar on top. 8. Bake: Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. 9.
